    Instead, she said they had agreed to an unpaid advertising contract with the Danish embassy in Washington to expand the exhibition’s presence on the web and promote it to the Swedish and French governments.

    “We believe we came here like honest tourists and took pictures with Israeli flags that went viral,” she told the paper.

    “Now we were forced to play the dirty game of exaggerations and lies by the Israel lobby,” she said, referring to Israeli activists.

    The exhibition was to be put on from Oct. 29 to 31 at the Danish House of Cultural History in central Copenhagen.

    Deeb told this website that organisers would not disclose the cost of cancelling the project.

    She said they were aware of orders from pro-Israeli lobby groups to pressure the embassy to cancel its contract with them, but also that they received a positive response from the Danish government.

    The exhibition was meant to show the suffering of Gaza and the Palestinian people, and the similarities to the persecution of Jews by Nazis during World War II, she said.
