I agree with most of the positive reviews. TLDR:
Story:
While the story was not bad, it wasn’t great. It is mostly just backstory, a foundation to build on, and sadly very short on details.
Gameplay:
Fun games that will help you unlock some useful abilities. It’s hard to get in the groove with this game and enjoy it, but once you do, you’ll feel rewarding.
Graphics:
Keep in mind you’re playing this on the PS3. It’s a really nice looking game overall. The character models are well done, the environments are well designed and detailed, and the voice acting is excellent. It’s a really enjoyable game overall.
Sound:
This is not necessarily a strength of the game, but the voice acting is good and the music fits well with the overall style.
Enjoyment:
This is probably the weakest point of the game. The story is not very engaging, and the gameplay takes an unexpectedly long time to ramp up. If you can put up with this, it is a great experience.
Overall:
This is a solid game overall. Play it when you’re in the mood for something new, but don’t expect a story more worthy of an RPG. It’s an enjoyable game that doesn’t require a tremendous amount of attention to be fun.

My friend was in the same spot I was at.
As I play this game more and more, I can see the flaws that may have held the game down from other games. It can be hard to start playing this game as you need to understand the very basics of what you’re doing.
The speed can be overwhelming at first. If you want to jump around the game and find all the side quests first, you’ll need to start at the beginning of the game and work your way up. And unless you enjoy reading through a manual over and over, it may take awhile to get this thing started up again.
With that said, the grind can be fun. Get to the good stories and it’s actually a fun experience. Jump into the multiplayer.
