My wife loves reading, and I started reading and liking books again about four years ago, but now I spend most of my time reading on the computer or mobile device when I’m not napping or eating or hanging out with my daughter.
Now, when I get home from work, I’m usually fairly comfortable in my own skin and really have no desire to jump into a novel. It’s always one of those things where I have a good desire to read while I’m at work, but I end up just not being able to read more than a paragraph or two at a time. It’s almost like I have to give myself a timeout for several hours from reading before I can get back in the saddle and go full-speed ahead again.

Although the record discloses the facts surrounding the altercation, there is no evidence of the specific objective force used by the victim. The state contends that its evidence is not designed to show that the defendant committed the particular act of inflicting the fatal wounds upon the victim. Instead, the state contends the evidence was offered to show that the defendant aided the victim in meeting the *1281 attack of the victim and thereby provoked the altercation.
The only authority cited by the state is Williams v. State, 463 So.2d 973 (Ala.Cr.App.1985). This case is distinguishable on its facts, and is inapposite. That case did not involve a mutual combat relationship, but rather an attack upon a man by a woman. There was no evidence that the man was the aggressor in that case. The court recognized the “mutual combat” exception to the general rule that, when the defendant is not the aggressor, evidence of his specific intent is inadmissible. However, the court concluded that in that case, the circumstances presented a jury question as to whether the man was the aggressor.
In our case, the evidence does not support a conclusion that defendant entered the fray as a passive victim.
The trial court committed reversible error in allowing Nunn to testify regarding defendant’s propensity to commit acts of violence.
A full discussion of the arguments regarding the occurrence of the other crimes exception can be found in Part II of this opinion. We conclude, however, that the conviction should be reversed, but that the trial court should be directed to grant defendant a new trial.
