The small star was fixed in space by changing the position of B (see Table 2). Subsequently, the data on the position of the stars in the constellation Bootes, obtained by the method using the telescope of the Cordillera Observatory, were slightly increased. For this, W. Bristol and A. Haldane obtained new data in 1911: they increased the height of the magnitude and determined the position of the stars in the sky. Further, the results obtained were used to calculate the coordinates of the hypothetical Hyperborean continent (see: A. I. Nemirovskii “The Hyperborean problem: an astronomer’s view”, “Zodiac”, M., 1995).
In 1921, Bristol and Halday succeeded in measuring the angular distance between stars for the first time. Later it turned out that such measurements do not give an accuracy of 2 arc minutes, which caused the need to build the first radio telescope (see). However, the methods of spectral analysis then used in the United States gave an extremely small difference in angularity between the measured stars and their magnitude. Thus, in those years, the accuracy of the first measurements was no more than a few arc minutes.
In 1932-1933, the Italian-German astronomer Giuseppe Maria Szilard (Joseph Maria Spilard) for the first time in the world used the method of three poles to determine the distance to stars. On the basis of his calculations, it became possible to build a map of the starry sky, thus defining our Galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy (see), as well as a number of other known stars. These calculations allowed C. Sperry to calculate the distances to other stars and to the core of the Galaxy and gave the first reports of star formation and star moon (see) and the sequence of comets passing through the solar system. In 1937, using data obtained by new methods, Ch. Tyson determined the distance to the Andromedy Nebula (cm).
Soon, in 1939, astronomers in the United States and Great Britain saw for the first time a very faint glow in the direction of the earth system. In 1939, J. F. Barnes and R. D. Dunn from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology first discovered interstellar matter, and in 1940, A. Rees for the first time recorded the temperature of the interstellar medium by recording pulsations and established the nature of this glow.
By 1950 (with the help of the large telescope of the Flagstaff Observatory, located in Pasadena), the first data on the location of stars in the northern and southern parts of the visible part of the Universe were collected and processed.
