Core Data/iPhone: how to avoid creating NSManagedObjects when saving to an NSPersistentStore
I’m using the core data stack in my iPhone app, and I’m still a bit new to it.
Basically, there is a read-only model for a couple of view controllers.
When I edit a model object, I’m in charge of calling a class method that persists my model object to a persistent store on the disk.
Since this is the core data stack, I have to create a managed object context and a managed object subclass, but no object model is created for me. The NSPersistentStoreCoordinator and the NSManagedObjectModel are both created beforehand, and my managed object subclass inherits from an abstract subclass.
So, I don’t have my managed objects wrapped in NSManagedObjectContext’s. (Please don’t scream at me for not using a NSFetchedResultsController!)
When my app is open for the first time, the model object is created as a read-only entity.
Whenever I need to save an edited model object, I call the method to persist it to the store.
But the persistent store coordinator is already created, and as I said, the managed objects are inherited from the abstract entity class (not from the NSManagedObject subclass).
I guess it would be more efficient if I could just reuse the persistent store coordinator, and I guess that’s the point of NSManagedObjectModel.
Right now, I’d need to recreate the persistent store coordinator, because
