The one problem with this solution is that i’ll have to run 2 queries and its kinda slow on the user side.
So now i was thinking to keep the query simple and just do:
SELECT tasks.*, COUNT(tasks.id) FROM tasks
WHERE tasks.done=1
So should i just do this?

If you only want to list the tasks that have the
done flag set to 1, I think the fastest solution would be:
SELECT * FROM tasks WHERE done=1;
Note that the solution is to list the records in the table that have a flag set to 1. So the FROM clause just creates that relationship.
Of course, if this is the only query you want to execute against your table, there is no need to list all of the columns.
SELECT * FROM tasks WHERE done=1;
is roughly equivalent.
For the other question, the second query

The aim of the program is to allow users to quickly convert and/or create delta files, in a more convenient manner than using the xDelta2 tool or the Windows command prompt, thus facilitating this process.
