HippoPlayer, the app that overcomes the saying “everything old is new again”, is a simple music player for AmigaOS4+ and most of its descendants.
It displays the file path and title, artist, album, genre and length on the main window. Multiple track preview is also available.
The volume can be controlled via the volume knobs on the tool bar, or you can hold SHIFT key while dragging them.
The play/pause button has dual functionality, you can either pause or resume the current song.
You can randomly choose one of the plugins, such as path, title, genre, album, length, artist, or a list of these, displayed in one list. Each plugin displays the details related to the current song, such as song type, tag, artist, album, date, genre and length.
Loop audio (play continuously), repeat or random order (available in the advanced mode) are also available.
Using the advanced mode you can play the current song without pausing it. It can be useful if you want to keep the music displayed without interrupting the main process, even if the track is paused.

The application does not store media in your computer’s hard-disk, instead it retrieves it with the help of the Advanced File Transmission Protocol (AFTP), which allows the usage of file-sharing services such as BitTorrent or eDonkey.
