The abbreviation “DWG” stands for “drawing”, though a DWG is a very general format used for a wide range of AutoCAD functions such as drawing, text, annotation, dimension, annotation, importing and exporting. In the latter method, lines are aligned according to the geometric angle between them, while vectors are aligned to the angle between them, and angles are aligned to the angle between the vectors. The conventional method produces lines that run perpendicular to the shape of the object in question, while the equirectangular method produces lines that run perpendicular to the shape of the object and the vector, or arrow, that points to it. The reason for the difference is that the two methods attempt to achieve a “fit to curve” constraint, which is the generalization of the geometric fit to two lines, in which the intersecting lines must be perpendicular and parallel to the curve. The conventional alignment method, however, does not attempt to fit to a curve, but rather to two lines. If both methods yield the same solution, the conventional method is used.
