The clinical usefulness of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography in the assessment of the mitral valve was examined retrospectively in 147 patients undergoing mitral valve surgery. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography was performed before and after cardiopulmonary bypass as well as in 40 patients during and after cardiopulmonary bypass to examine the mitral valve. In 14 of the 147 patients intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography was judged to be of limited diagnostic value. In all other cases the intraoperative transesophageal echocardiographic findings were confirmed by the histologic results. Two patients showed mitral valve endocarditis, but one of these was treated by surgery because of severe mitral insufficiency, while the other had a chorda tendinea ruptured by endocarditis. Another patient required bypass surgery for massive mitral insufficiency due to infiltrative endocardial myocardial disease. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography was also performed in 35 patients during cardiopulmonary bypass and/or on return to the operating room, resulting in appropriate clinical decisions based on these data in 29 cases. The remaining six patients had preoperative poor-grade mitral regurgitation which had improved due to both surgical and nonsurgical therapeutic measures. In all other cases, intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography did not change the type of surgical procedure. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography has many advantages, such as the use of the probe outside the surgical field, the ability to take multiple images, and the capability of detecting anatomic pathology preoperatively. and did not consume the goods while in their possession;

In the same fashion as this question, I am trying to modify a link to have a different color on hover.
The problem is that the css declaration:

Does not select the correct link, and without using JavaScript I can’t seem to add a link to a class that would be aware of the hover state.
Currently this is not an issue because I have the links as thumbnails, but I want to keep them as links and have the hover occur on the thumbnails.
