AutoCAD’s origins go back to 1982, when the first edition of AutoCAD was introduced by IESA at the 34th AutoDesk Technical Symposium. In 1998, a version of AutoCAD was released as a product of Matica slovenska. By 1999, it was the official CAD software of the International Association of Automotive Engineers (IAEE), previously called the International Society of Automotive Engineers (ISA).
In March 2004, the company Autodesk acquired Matica slovenska, and thus the license to publish AutoCAD.
